I made this devil’s food cake for my aunt’s 60th birthday. The cake was wonderfully moist and soft. The 3 midnight-black cake layers were sandwiched with thin layers of smooth vanilla buttercream. I completed the cake with a generous sprinkling of finely shaved chocolate on top.

Hi, I just discovered your blog and I’m so excited read about your baking trials and tribulations which always seem to turn out beautiful. I’m forever in search of a super moist, spongy, not too sweet, intensely chocolate flavored cake recipe and you appear to have it in this photo. Is it possible to point me to the recipe? I would love to try it. My email address is beril.altiner@sbcglobal.net.
Thank you in advance!

I tried this chocolate cake recipe some days ago but somehow couldn’t achieve the same result as you, my cake clearly wasn’t looking that good (atleast it tasted good). What kind of chocolate do you use? Maybe it’s coming from the flour I used, so I used chickpea flour instead of regular wheat flour.
